Welcome to the website of actor and writer, Bridget Flanery.

Thank you for taking the time to check out a little bit about me and my work!

Bridget Flanery

I was born
and raised in a VERY small Iowa town.  After graduating from high school in a class of 40 people, I went to the “big city” of Des Moines for university life.  I graduated with a BFA from Drake University, where I performed onstage in productions that ranged from Grease to Dr. Faustus.

Though utterly petrified, after college  I packed my car and headed to Los Angeles.  Clean, country living had preserved my youthful appearance, and I soon found myself playing high schoolers on a variety of kids’ television shows: California Dreams, Sweet Valley High, Teen Angel, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, to name a few.   But I eventually outgrew the cheerleading uniform and I longed for meatier roles and to return to the stage.   I decided to head east for graduate school!

I spent the next 3 years obtaining my MFA from The Yale School of Drama where I had the privilege of collaborating with some of the most gifted directors, playwrights, designers, dramaturgs, stage and theatre managers and actors in the country .

Then it was off to New York City, where I did shows at Manhattan Theatre Club, Soho Rep, The Naked Angels, The Clemente Soto Valdez Theatre, The Kane Theatre and a few others.  After less than a year in NYC, I was beckoned back west to The Old Globe in San Diego for a new play, Loves and Hours, directed by the Tony award-winning director, Jack O’Brien.

It was during this time, I realized I was better suited for the west coast sunshine and mountains.  I RE-relocated to California and quickly nabbed roles on Will & Grace, Without a Trace, Desperate Housewives, Two and a Half Men.  I also was able to keep my theatre chops sharp with leads in Twelfth Night, The Taming of the Shrew, The Rainmaker, The Psychic and many other brilliant plays.

This post-Yale time has also rekindled an interest in writing that began during my Drake days.  I have several completed screenplays that I am shopping and a few others in the works.  My script Gossamer Folds has won awards in screenwriting competitions and has been a festival finalist in a few others.

I currently live in Sherman Oaks with my husband Brandon and our four Maltese, where I continue to act and write and play and dream.
